Palworld crude oil: rigs, farm spots and the triple node
Crude oil comes two ways in 1.0 — raiding rigs or extracting it at a base. Here's the earliest rig and the best multi-node spots.

- Rig bonus loot
- Ancient Civilization Cores, high-tier schematics
- Easy base spot
- Sunlit Isle (east of start) — 3 oil deposits, low danger
- Advanced base spot
- Mount Obsidian, western shore — 3 nodes, tougher (~level 40+)
- Extractor unlock
- ~level 50

Two supply lines
Crude oil in Palworld 1.0 has two supply lines, and knowing both is what keeps your ammo and high-tier crafting from stalling. The first is raiding the oil rigs dotted around the map — the chests and enemies there drop crude oil, plus Ancient Civilization Cores and high-tier schematics on top. The earliest one, the Rayne Syndicate Test Drilling Rig, sits near the Sealed Realm of Frozen Wings fast travel and is tuned for around level 30, so it's reachable well before endgame.
The best base spots
The second line is passive extraction: set up a base on a natural oil node and let extractor machines pull it while you play. Sunlit Isle, east of the starting area, is the easier pick — three oil deposits in range with comparatively low danger, a good fit if you don't want to gear up first. Mount Obsidian's far western shore is the other option community guides repeatedly cite as a three-node spot, but it's a tougher region: heat-resistant gear and a level-40-ready team are recommended before you commit to defending a base there. Treat exact base coordinates as community-reported rather than officially confirmed — guides agree on the region, not always the precise tile.
Why it matters
Crude oil feeds the Plastic and Polymer crafting chain behind advanced firearms, missiles, Plasteel and high-tier base structures — it's not optional once you're pushing into that gear tier. The Crude Oil Extractor unlocks around level 50 and needs power from a generator; assign a Pal with strong Mining suitability, like Orserk, to keep output high once it's running. The play is to do both at the right time: raid the Test Drilling Rig for an early burst, then convert to a multi-node base once you can defend it, so crude oil stops being something you chase and becomes something your base produces in the background.
